First Note – 3rd Line B

Your first note on the recorder is B. To be more specific – it is called “third line B” because it is placed on the 3rd line of the treble clef.

HOW is the note fingered on the recorder?

  1. Place the left thumb on the tuhmb hole found on the back of the recorder. Place the second (index) finger of the left hand on the top (first) hole on the front side of the recorder.
  2. Place your right thumb behind the 4th hole from the top. Get in the habit of keeping the right thumb in position. It helps support the recorder.
  3. Put the mouthpiece of the recorder in your mouth and gently blow a long sound using the syllable “Too.”
